How to play Brick Breaker

Brick Breaker gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. Use the example below to understand a decision. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Single 45-brick layout, three balls.

Try a deliberate move

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Step by step

  1. Start the ball.
  2. Move the paddle to intercept it.
  3. Paddle contact changes the outgoing angle.
  4. Restart a remaining ball after a loss.

Controls

Pointer, arrow keys or held Left/Right. Start / pause and New round are available. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

An edge hit sends the ball at a different angle. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Verify the rule before continuing.

Watch out for this

Track its landing point, not only its current x-coordinate. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
