How to play Ludo

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Ludo. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Your goal

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Start with a deliberate move.

Step by step

1. Roll six to leave the yard.
2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Controls

A useful example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Look for the relevant detail.

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Compare the situation with the worked example. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
